“Working with Extremely At-Risk Clients: Bath Salts and other New Recreational Drugs”

Tuesday, February 28th 1-4 p.m. Eastern

3 Free Ceu’s - Certified by Indiana Professionals Bureau
VUJC Campus, New Classroom Building Lecture Hall Room 138

Presenter: Carla Gaff-Clark, Ed. D., LMHC, CADAC IV

Bath Salts and other new recreational drugs fly under the radar because they are labeled with names like, jewelry cleaner, plant food, potpourri, incense and spice. They come in what looks like harmless packages. They even say not for human consumption. But according to the Indiana State Police lab, people snort some like cocaine or meth and smoke others like marijuana. For most people trying one of these chemical cocktails for the first time -- they have no idea the danger or problems they may have just walked into.

The behind-the-counter deal has replaced the back-alley buy, and most people have no trouble finding the goods. Although they cost more than $37 for a container of "Mexican Jumping Beans" at area stores; you are able to buy these in store after store. No questions asked, no ID required.

Like the earlier sessions, this quarterly training will be a (approximately) three-hour session with a workbook, handouts, charts, and screening ideas. Additionally, this interactive session will include, a short lecture session, a video, group work, practice activities, and time to process. Because these trainings have been certified by the Indiana Professionals Bureau, we will once again be handing out three CEU's free of charge.
